Robert D. Bibb, M.D. -President and Director of Research
Botanical Solutions is led by internationally recognized dermatologist and researcher Robert D. Bibb, M.D., a pioneer in environmental dermatology, with a focus on the damage caused to the skin by environmental pollution.
Dr. Bibb has had a thriving dermatology practice in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina since 1984. With four offices and a constant flow of patients, Dr. Bibb has seen first-hand the terrible damage that the environment and the sun can have on the skin.
Dr. Bibb completed his internship in New Orleans where he was voted outstanding intern of the year and completed his residency in dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Bibb received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University, where he was elected to the chemical engineering honorary, and an M.S. in Bio-Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Dr. Bibb’s expertise in the field of environmental engineering was put into practice during his two years as a senior health physicist at Westinghouse Nuclear Fuels in Columbia, South Carolina where his specialty was radiation protection engineering. He was also in charge of all environmental programs for the facility.
In 1974, following news that his father had developed cancer, Dr. Bibb applied for admission to the Medical University of South Carolina. After completing his MD degree, he did his internship in New Orleans at the United States Public Health Service Hospital where he was voted outstanding intern of the year. He next served in the Public Health Service Corps in McClellanville, South Carolina and received a citation for distinguished service for his work.
Dr. Bibb, the consummate researcher, believes that gaining a broad base of scientific knowledge is his principal hobby. His strong focus on cancer prevention, which began with his father’s diagnosis and death, continues to be driven today by the plight of his patients, family and friends who are victims of the devastating disease.
Dr. Bibb is an acclaimed expert in the field of Environmental Dermatology and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the South Carolina Medical Society and the Horry County Medical Society. He has been involved in anti-cancer research through Clemson University and is a published author in a peer-reviewed journals.
Daniel W. Nixon, M.D. – Senior Research Advisor
Daniel W. Nixon, M.D., is an internationally recognized oncologist, chemoprevention researcher, best selling author and expert in diet-related cancer research.
The results of his research has led to substantial contributions to his field, and to helping medical and nutrition practitioners and the public make informed decisions about the role of diet and food in controlling cancer.
Dr. Nixon is a is faculty member of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, serving as the Alice and Hayne Folk Professor of Experimental Oncology, Emeritus and Clinical Professor of Medicine.
His current research interests include translational research in chemoprevention, preventive proteomics/genomics, nutritional mechanisms in disease cause and prevention, cancer prevention and minorities, metronomic chemotherapy.
Dr. Nixon’s research career has spanned four decades. He served as principal investigator for more than two-dozen grants, funded by more
than $19 million dollars from public and private sources.
Author, co-author or editor of five books, Dr, Nixon’s book credits include Medical Management of Cancer (1982), Nutrition and Cancer (1991), Chemoprevention of Cancer (1994), Cancer Recovery Eating Plan (1994), and The Prostate Health Program (2004).
He is also the author or co-author of 108 scholarly published articles, 27 book chapters and 70 abstracts. Currently, he serves as editor-in-chief
of Preventive Medicine and Cancer Prevention International.
Dr. Nixon’s administration posts include past president, and director of the American Health Foundation in New York, associate director of cancer prevention and control at the Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC, a vice president of the American Cancer Society in Atlanta, an associate director
of cancer prevention research at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, interim director of general clinical research and director of medical oncology at Emory University.
During his career Dr. Nixon served as a faculty member at other medical schools, including Rockefeller University in New York and Emory University
in Atlanta, where he spent much of his medical career. He also served in the United States Navy Reserve Medical Corps, rising to the rank of Captain.
Dr. Nixon graduated with honors from the University of Georgia (Class of 1965). He received his medical degree in 1969 from the Medical College of Georgia, where he did his internship and residency. Dr. Nixon went on to specialize in oncology in 1971 as Clinical Fellow of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Research Fellow at Harvard University.
Dr. Nixon is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and as a medical examiner.
John W. Gandy, CPA – Chief Financial Officer
John Gandy brings over 20 years of experience in various financial planning and senior management positions. He began his career with the internationally known accounting and consulting firm of Arthur Anderson. After returning home to the Myrtle Beach area, he spent 16 years with Ocean Lakes Service Corporation as Executive Vice President, managing the complex financial and operational issues of the multi-million dollar resort and real estate holding company.
John then went into private certified public accounting practice in Myrtle Beach, and has built an impressive reputation in the Southeastern business community for initiating, developing and guiding large-scale financial transactions for resorts, real estate developments, golf courses, media groups and large companies. He has also created and brought to fruition several public offerings.
He is a principal in the Gandy CPA Group, Moonraker Management, Chicora Beach Holiday, Coastal Direct, and is helping lead the coalition of public and private financing that is paving the way for the new Coastal Carolina University Arena project – a proposed 7,000 seat indoor facility to be shared by Coastal Carolina athletic teams and privately-owned minor league professional sports franchises.
A catalyst for growth and new business development, John has been involved in over 400 business and real estate transactions during his career, in addition to numerous start-up and turnaround business ventures throughout the United States.
Born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, John Gandy graduated from Wofford College, and holds an MBA from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.
Donald G. Wizeman, M.O.C. – Senior Vice President
Donald Wizeman is recognized as one of America's most creative, and respected, authorities in the areas of research, marketing and promotions. He has successfully developed deep personal, and professional, relationships with the Who's Who of the world's business, financial, governmental, and resort and tourism industries.
He began his career as a political consultant, primarily in the State of Virginia. He then transitioned into the marketing of large-scale planned unit developments in Maryland, Virginia and Florida.
Donald has successfully created, and produced, in excess of $350 Million dollars in marketing, advertising and promotional projects. From image creation, to three-hour television specials, his award-winning portfolio encompasses every aspect of market research, positioning, advertising, marketing, public relations, packaging and promotion.
In 1987, he founded the United States' Japan Golfer's Association as a vehicle to interact with the business leadership of Japan. His being chosen by the Governors of South Carolina, Florida and North Carolina to serve as a Delegate to the prestigious Southeast United States-Japan Conference evidences his success. Donald has the unique distinction of being the only person to serve as a Delegate from three states, and to direct three of this annual event’s golf tournaments.
In 1994, he was one of the founders of the Myrtle Beach Tourism Coalition (MBTC), and led the organization until all of its goals were reached in 1996. In the fall of 2005, he was the driving force behind Myrtle Beach Forward, which resulted in the establishment of the multi-million dollar Myrtle Beach Marketing Fund. He also created, produced and directed the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Tourism Symposiums and the Biloxi/Gulfport, Mississippi, Tourism Symposium.
He currently serves as President, and Chief Executive Officer, of International Resort & Golf Resources, Inc., and D. G. Wizeman & Associates, Ltd.
In 2001 he founded the Myrtle Beach Golf Association (MBGA), and continues to serve as its President.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia he is an alumni of Old Dominion University.
